Abstract:
This series contains the paintings, drawings, collages, photomontages, posters, and mixed media artworks created and collected by Argentinian filmmaker Fernando Birri during the course of his career. This is Subgroup 4 of the Fernando Birri Archive of Multimedia Arts. The other subgroups are Subgroup 1: Escritos, Subgroup 2: Fotos, and Subgroup 3: Audiovisual and Objects.

Abstract:
Thomas Nelson Downs was a self-taught magician, specializing in coin tricks, who over the course of his career, performed in vaudeville acts all over the country, owned a vaudeville house, sold magic supplies, and wrote several books of magic instruction. This collection contains his correspondence with fellow magician Edward "Tex" McGuire, documentation of tricks or "effects", patents, advertisements, news clippings, photographs, and show programs.

Abstract:
This collection consists of materials associated with Barbara Orson, an accomplished American stage, television, and film actress, and one of the founding members of the Trinity Repertory Company of Providence, R.I. The collection dates from 1914-2011, the bulk of which ranges from the 1950s to the end of the 20th century. This collection documents her stellar carreer in theatre and film, from the time she began her formal studies at the Dramatic Workshop of the New School in 1948 until her retirement from Trinity Repertory Company. It includes correspondence, as well as an interesting collection of personal items, ranging from a childhood diary and autograph book, to acting awards, professional headshots, acting contracts, and resumes. It is particularly strong in its array of documents about the theatre, mainly associated with, but not limited to, Trinity Rep, including a substantive assortment of printed materials, such as programs, brochures, booklets, play scripts, and sheet music. Of special note is its stunning array of stage photographs dating from the mid-20th century to the late 20th century.

Abstract:
The William Paterson Papers, dating from 1919-2003, include photographs, plays in manuscript, an autobiography in manuscript, a pen and ink drawing, clippings, military decorations, acting awards, pamphlets, and other documents. Paterson, a Brown University graduate (Class of 1941) and a World War II veteran, was an actor by profession. He joined the Cleveland Playhouse in 1947 and worked there for the next 20 years. In 1967 he joined the American Conservatory Theatre where he remained for over 30 years. He also occasionally performed in television and film productions.
